Venus Aerospace’s ‘Stargazer’ Hypersonic Jet Can Hit Mach 9, Travel from NYC to Tokyo in 1-Hour
Venus Aerospace’s ‘Stargazer’ is a hypersonic jet that can hit Mach 9 (6,905.42 mph) and transport passengers from New York City to Tokyo in 1-hour. It takes off from a conventional airport and then climb to the edge of space, reaching 170,000-feet, complete with windows for passengers to take in the views.
The aircraft measures 100 feet wide by 150 feet long, has a takeoff weight of 150,000 pounds, and room for up to 12 passengers. Power comes from a rotating-detonation engine that spins at 20,000 rotations per second, but will take off using conventional jet engines. Testing is set to begin soon using a 20-foot drone that will hopefully achieve Mach 5, before a Stargazer prototype is built.

This isn’t science fiction, this is science fact. We worked with NASA at the Johnson Space Center and were able to access the information from the sonic boom testing from the Space Shuttle program. We determined that at altitude and speed flying you will not be able to hear us—we will be flying at 170,000 feet at Mach 9,” said Dr. Andrew Duggleby, Venus Aerospace Co-Founder.
